The nasal spray used to combat opioid overdoses will soon be available at three locations in the Town of Aurora. Town Board members approved a proposal from Councilman Joseph McCann to establish the sites the night of Monday, Feb. 24. Narcan, a nasal spray that often reverses the effects of an opioid overdose, will be placed in boxes outside the Aurora Town Public Library and the shed near the library on Main Street and the Aurora Municipal Center on Oakwood Avenue.

Town of Marilla residents will vote again on a proposal to lengthen the supervisor’s term. Town Board members voted 4-1 to set a referendum in November about whether to extend the term from two to four years the night of Thursday, Jan. 9. The proposal will appear on the ballot again after being defeated in November 2024 Before voting, the board heard opposition from residents during the public hearing.

Town of Marilla property owners will see slight increases in the tax levy, fire tax rate and garbage pickup fee and the same highway fund tax rate next year. The Town Board unanimously adopted the 2025 budget the night of Thursday, Nov. 7. Supervisor Earl Gingerich, Jr. emphasized department heads remained within their budgets. He used the same amount from reserves as usual. Sales tax revenue fell by 1 percent from 2023 to 2024, which caused him to budget less for 2025.
