    GENEVA — We do not know much about children’s radio consumption. Official radio measurement systems only partially measure this target group and only in a few markets. However, this doesn’t discourage several broadcasters that run dedicated children’s services. In a recent analysis, I identified 22 European radio stations that target children. These stations represent a wide range of target age groups, from babies to teens.

    BLANTYRE, Malawi — The Canadian government has partnered with MISA Malawi — the Malawi chapter of the Media Institute for Southern Africa — to empower community radio stations and enhance accountability for local projects.     Listeners in the south of Gloucestershire, a county in southwestern England, can now tune in to community station Thornbury Radio on DAB following the launch of a new DAB multiplex. The local not-for-profit organization South Glos Digital Community Interest Company (SGDCIC), backed by Thornbury Radio, community donations and support from Thornbury Town Council and Thornbury Rotary, successfully launched its SSDAB service, covering much of South Gloucestershire.

    The Broadcast Technology Roadshow travels to Northern Ireland and Ireland at the end of October. The Roadshow emerged from IBC2019 when a small group of non-competing companies — Sonifex, Cedar Audio, Broadcast Radio and Vortex Communications — decided to tour the United Kingdom to allow their regular technology users who could not get to the major trade shows to see their latest products first-hand.
