The Washington Commanders are preparing for their second NFL Draft under general manager Adam Peters. Their first, highlighted by quarterback Jayden Daniels, helped the Commanders rapidly remodel a four-win team into a Super Bowl contender in just one year. For the second, there may not be a Heisman Trophy-winner on the Washington horizon, but that isn't keeping Peters and his staff from potentially targeting award-winning players. Ohio State Buckeyes offensive lineman Seth McLaughlin.

The saying goes, 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger', so when the Washington Commanders went through a three-game losing streak in the middle of their 2024 season, there were two options: grow and survive or fade away into the offseason. Fortunately for the Commanders, the players and coaches came together to learn from the losses and ended up better for it in the long run.

Last offseason, Washington traded Howell to the Seattle Seahawks along with two draft picks in exchange for two better selections.

What if the Washington Commanders franchise never traded up to get quarterback Robert Griffin III (RGIII) in the 2012 NFL Draft? That is the question posed by Sports Illustrated's Gilberto Manzano in a published piece that doesn't just ask 'what if' about the Commanders, but about all 32 NFL teams. If Washington and the Rams, then located in St. Louis, don't make that trade, then it is likely the trade happens with a different team, and RGIII's future heads elsewhere.
