To the Editor:I was surprised to read in a letter to the editor in your paper a few days ago that I had run for office in Franklin County. Since I have never even lived in Franklin County, much less sought any office there, my interest was piqued by this mystery and so I called the Vermont Secretary of State’s office to learn more. I learned that 24 years ago one person wrote my name in on a ballot in Franklin County.

I grew up in Vermont and was educated in Vermont public schools. I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Vermont and then went on to Georgetown University Law School.

I am a fifth generation Vermonter. I grew up in a hunting family. When I was young, we hunted rabbits with a beagle named Sam, and like most Vermonters my age, I hunted deer with my father. When I was older, I hunted birds with an English setter. I’ve always been an avid fisherman and I have the greatest respect for those who hunt with skill, care and respect for their prey.

To the Editor:Our community depends on Copley for its health care. We all know Gannon has dedicated his life to that care, including leading the emergency room at Copley through the pandemic. Your article indicates that Gannon was fired “without cause” and that he was fired after voicing safety concerns about the hospital’s medical practices. When a trusted and respected ER physician is fired after raising questions about the safety of the hospital’s current practices it is doubly disturbing.
