In her last State of the University address as USC president, Carol Folt on Thursday highlighted many prominent advancements the university made under her tenure over the past six years. It was Folt’s second State of the University address this week, this one addressed to health sciences faculty, staff and students at the Aresty Auditorium on the USC Health Sciences Campus. Folt will retire as USC president at the end of June.

It takes some people a full week to recover from feeling more sluggish than usual after rolling back the clock for daylight saving time. Experts call the phenomenon “social jet lag.”Much like the jet lag we experience after flying across time zones, losing an hour upsets our circadian rhythm.

More than 3,000 enthusiastic middle and high school students from more than 100 schools gathered on the USC University Park Campus on Saturday for the Southern California Science Olympiad’s 2025 USC Invitational. The Olympiad featured teams of up to 15 students competing in 23 science-based events. Screams of joy reverberated in Bovard Auditorium as Sierra Vista Middle School from Irvine was announced as the winner of the middle school competition and Glen A.

Dear Trojan Family,This past week has us all heavy-hearted. In the face of such a disaster, Los Angeles feels much smaller, and more connected. We’re proud and moved to see how Trojans from around the world are reaching out to help those in need. We’ve heard stories of Trojans helping the wildfire response efforts through Navy Reserve deployment and others doing search and rescue work in the affected communities.

The Trojan spirit was on display Tuesday when the USC men’s basketball team beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 99-89 at the Galen Center, and so too was the university’s commitment to sustainability. The fixture was the team’s annual zero waste “green game,” an opportunity to amplify USC’s work to reduce waste through reuse, recycling and composting.
