Tennessee's senior day ceremony before Tuesday's baseball game against Belmont was low on quantity and high on quality. Hunter Ensley was the lone Volunteers player honored, and the 6-foot-1, 197-pounder from Huntingdon made the most of his final regular-season game in Lindsey Nelson Stadium with an infield hit in the first inning and a home run to left field in the second.

Tennessee and Vanderbilt entered Friday's series opener inside Lindsey Nelson Stadium knowing that some significant postseason posturing could be at stake. Junior pitcher Liam Doyle and senior center fielder Hunter Ensley were ready to deliver for the Volunteers. Doyle racked up 12 strikeouts in seven scoreless innings while Ensley collected two hits, a crucial slide at the plate and an acrobatic catch at the wall as No. 12 Tennessee topped No. 10 Vanderbilt 3-2 before a crowd of 5,923.

Today's fun in transitive property: UTC defeated Dayton by 15 points Dayton defeated UConn by 18 points

Tennessee has improved to 13-7 in SEC tournament games under coach Rick Barnes, with his 13 victories matching the combined total of predecessors Jerry Green, Buzz Peterson, Bruce Pearl, Cuonzo Martin and Donnie Tyndall.

My oldest is a sophomore at UT, and he did a mighty fine job of capturing the emotion of Jahmai Mashack’s game-winner. https://t.co/lCauchlHs3
