    I rarely got in trouble when I went to Catholic school from first through eighth grades, but one time I earned detention − called Justice Under God, or JUG − because I wore white socks instead of the mandatory brown or black socks with my uniform. Depending on the day, we wore gray slacks; a blue or white button-down shirt; blue tie; blue blazer; and black or brown shoes, belts and socks. Every day at the Hardey Preparatory School for Boys in Chicago.
