Weather: Yep. Still cold. On this date in 1977, the Lee-Jackson Memorial Foundation sells Confederate money for $3 as a fundraiser to sponsor a scholarship. "We'd like to have more young people take an interest in Lee and Jackson," the spokesperson told the Times-Dispatch.

Weather: Temperatures continue to hover near freezing. Look for a full update on potential weekend snowstorms tomorrow morning. On this date in 1898, post office employee William T. Crowder of Petersburg appealed a $2 fine imposed on him for using profane language ($68 in today’s money). The court upheld the fine. Cancellations: Richmond schools remain out today, a combination of icy conditions and their reliance on boilers to heat several buildings. City offices are closed.

1 INTRODUCTION In opposition to any stated opinion that the death penalty and state execution are somehow humane, we demonstrate herein that the latest method, nitrogen anoxia, invoked by the state of Alabama is inherently inhumane. From a respiratory and cerebral bioenergetics approach, we show that both the methods used and their application are flawed with physiological and forensic misconceptions.
