CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Good morning. Grab the umbrella. A Flood Watch is in effect for the entire region until late tonight. A First Alert Weather Day is also in effect for the area, with the potential for localized flooding. 1″-3″ of rain will be possible, with locally higher amounts. As the storm slowly moves away, rain and storm chances will become more scattered Wednesday. A few showers will be possible Thursday.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - We’ll see partly sunny skies for the rest of the afternoon. Intense heat and humidity will be the main concern today. A Heat Advisory is in effect for all counties east of the Blueridge. A widely scattered shower or storm will be possible later today into this evening. As a slow moving cold front approaches the region, more widespread showers and storms will be possible this weekend.

As a warm front gradually moves north, a scattered shower and storm will be possible this afternoon and evening. Any storm that does develop can cause gusty wind and a heavy down pour. Meanwhile, we are tracking a cold front to our west. Needed rain and scattered storms will become more numerous Friday into the weekend.

A cold front is moving east, and is expected to move through our region later today. While a southerly wind will keep us rather humid for the remainder of the afternoon, once the front moves out, humidity levels will begin to fall. Friday will be an outstanding day with sunshine and cooler than normal temperatures.
