You have the time. You just have to make the choice. People say the younger generations isn’t stepping up to volunteer with organizations. They hear the same answers, that people don’t have time. People are too busy with work or their children’s activities to help out. If you’ve binge-watched a TV show or picked up a new hobby recently, I respectfully suggest you think again. You’re not too busy. You’ve made a choice to spend your time that way. You declared your priorities.

Amos Marcelin may have escaped the violence and instability of war-torn Haiti about 17 months ago to relocate to Lima. The Haitian musician hasn’t escaped the images of what an estimated 2,700 children are going through in one part of his native country. “One mother may have eight to 12 children, and she’s not even able to give the basic needs to their children,” he said. “That’s why at that time we realized the best thing to do is creating something, bringing something to help the community.

LIMA — Visitors to this month’s Wake, Rattle & Roll event will be treated to information about Ohio’s H2Ohio program and free pancakes, the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce announced. The event runs 7 to 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 30 at Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square, Lima. The program begins at 7:30 a.m. Admission is $10 for Chamber members and $15 for future members.
