    The SNP's "soft-touch" approach to stopping benefits cheats was blamed for the huge rise in fraud allegations received by its benefits quango. Social Security Scotland confirmed that 4,751 complaints of fraud were made to the organisation in just the first nine months of 2024. These allegations can cover many different benefits at the same time, and the figure reported is more than the complaints made in 2022 and 2023 combined. In those two years 2,039 and 2,176 reports were made, respectively.

    The Scottish Government have been told that "men do not belong in women's prisons" as pressure grows on the Scottish Prison Service to move all trans women out of the female estate and into male wings or jails. Their current trans guidance states that biological men who identify as women can be locked up alongside females if they are deemed to not be a threat to them. But the Supreme Court judgement should put an end to lags self-identifying and being housed alongside those of the opposite sex.

    Ferguson Marine has been caught up in a new secrecy scandal after failing to supply a new timetable for the completion of the second already much-delayed ferry fiasco vessel. The nationalised shipyard is currently working on the Glen Rosa, which is already seven years late. Its sister ship, the Glen Sannox, finally came into service in early 2025 but workers had to cannibalise the Glen Rosa for parts to make sure it was sea-worthy.
