Malaysia’s top mini-market chain retailer 99 Speed Mart Retail Holdings on Thursday launched an initial public offering (IPO) that would raise 2.36 billion ringgit (US$532 million), the country’s biggest IPO in seven years. The company is offering up to 1.43 billion shares priced at 1.65 ringgit apiece, according to its prospectus released Thursday, confirming an earlier report by Reuters on the listing.

CJ Foodville, the restaurant arm of food and entertainment conglomerate CJ Group, said Monday its bakery franchise Tous les Jours will reopen five outlets in Cambodia this year under a contract with a new local partner. CJ Foodville has signed a master franchise deal with Cambodia’s Express Food Group to establish a presence in the Southeast Asian nation’s food franchise market, the company said in a statement.

U Select, Hong Kong’s third largest supermarket chain, has shut down nearly half of its store network in the past year due to economic headwinds and lower consumer sentiment. The number of U Select branches in the city has dropped from about 100 to 57 after the chain closed its loss-making venues. The retailer expanded quickly during Covid as the pandemic fuelled an exodus of expatriate and local professionals.

Luxury retailer Rene Caovilla has opened its first store in Vietnam, in partnership with local distributor Thai Tuan Group. The new store, located in the centre of Union Square, on Ho Chi Minh City’s luxury shopping strip, boasts a premium design with white as the main tone, evoking the brand’s DNA of elegance, Venetian tradition, and Italian workmanship. The boutique’s design combines traditional Venetian elements (gold, wood, and marble) with a modern twist.
