    (Cleveland)- The White County Sheriff’s Office reports the recent arrest of two people on drug charges. A news release said that on Tuesday, April 1, at approximately 12:00 AM, White County Deputies responded to 23 Cherrywood Trail in reference to serving a warrant on a wanted person. The release states that while executing the warrant, deputies located several quantities of Methamphetamine, drug-related objects, Schedule II controlled Substances, Marijuana, and a Firearm.

    Although the Cleveland Municipal Election isn’t until November, the Cleveland City Council has set the 2025 qualifying fees and officially set the election date. During this week’s meeting, the council approved setting the election date as November 4, 2025. Two council seats are open this year: Ward 3, currently held by Jeremy McClure, and Ward 4, held by CJ McDonald. Both positions are for four-year terms that begin January 1, 2026.

    The Cleveland City Council during their regular meeting Monday night voted to approve amending the city’s Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance. During the second reading of the resolution Economic Development and Planning Director Tom O’Bryant stated that the amendment changes the definition of what is now called Inside Square Area to Downtown Economic District. In doing so O’Bryant said the boundaries would also change.

    CLEVELAND, Ga. – Newly elected White County officials were sworn into office Friday morning at the White County Courthouse in Cleveland. County Probate Judge Don Ferguson first administered the oath of office to Enotah Judicial Circuit Judge Joy Parks who then gave the oath of office to Judge Ferguson.

    CLEVELAND, Ga. – The White County community is mourning the sudden loss of a well-known White County Historian and lifelong resident, Judy Lovell. Lovell passed away at 84, on Friday, December 27. The daughter of James Davidson, the founder and publisher of The Cleveland Courier, an early newspaper for Cleveland and White County. Judy spent her early life by her dad’s side, working and contributing to the newspaper (which is no longer in publication).
