Despite trailing in the final minutes, the Ceres Bulldogs pulled off a thrilling comeback to defeat the Johansen Vikings 25-20 on Friday night, securing their first Western Athletic Conference win. The Bulldogs victory was led by senior standout tight end/linebacker Daniel Davis, who dominated on both sides of the ball with a touchdown and two game-saving interceptions. “Oh man, he had a game,” said senior captain wide receiver/defensive back Reis Smith on Davis’ performance.

Stanislaus County has a cannabis sales tax on the November ballot that would apply to licensed businesses in unincorporated areas. There are 14 cannabis businesses in unincorporated Stanislaus, four retail and 10 cultivation. The cannabis tax, Measure P, would replace the fees outlined in development agreements for cannabis businesses. It aims to simplify assessments and reduce the county’s administrative burden. The proposed rates are comparable to the commercial cannabis business taxes in Modesto.
