Police are searching for a dog owner after a deer in Richmond Park had to be euthanised when it was chased and savaged by a spaniel in a “deeply distressing incident”, said officials. The dog was believed to be a springer spaniel and it mauled the fallow deer, leaving it with fatal wounds at about 12.30pm on Monday near Sheen Cross. A local website, Teddington Town, reported that the attack had been filmed by a witness but the footage was considered too distressing to release.

A 25-year-old woman who was killed after being knocked off an electric bike in a hit-and-run crash has been named as Alana Armstrong. She was a passenger on one of two e-bikes that were followed by a 4×4 in Pleasley, Derbyshire, on Tuesday evening. Armstrong, who has a six-year-old son, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred at about 8pm. The e-bike rider, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital, where one of his legs had to be amputated below the knee.

The body of a baby discovered in a snow-covered field in Greater Manchester has been identified as a newborn girl. Greater Manchester police said that the force had named the girl Ava. A dog walker found her remains on Wednesday last week near Ashtons Field in Salford. The force confirmed that her mother had not yet been identified and investigators were trying to establish “the truth for Ava”, particularly as the case had “touched the hearts of many”.

A British teenager may be jailed for 20 years because he allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old in Dubai. Marcus Fakana, 18, was on holiday with his parents in the conservative emirate in August when he had a “holiday romance” with the girl, according to Detained in Dubai, a human rights group representing him. Fakana, from Tottenham, London, was charged with sex with a girl aged 17 after her mother allegedly reported their relationship to the Dubai authorities.
