What a week! So much has been happening that I barely know where to start. Perhaps I will start with a random tweet I posted a few days ago, not knowing it would have such an overwhelming response. Do you have a doctor and a health system that you trust? Recently, I had the privilege of interviewing Dr Teck Khong.Teck leads a new kind of political party, one with no right or left leanings. The Alliance for Democracy and Freedom is a centrist party with common sense policies.

It’s a bumper blog this week to make up for a slightly slimmed down version in October. Hang onto your hats; there is much to discuss! I am almost dizzy with news! I have déjà vu. Are you also feeling as though we have already been here? As one circus rolls out of Washington, DC, another rolls in. It’s a similar show with different rides and different performers. However, I spy a ghost train and a few very steep, scary rollercoasters ahead.

It was fantastic to meet so many like-minded souls in Bristol at the UK Column On Location conference. Meeting face-to-face and sharing so many hugs felt incredible. Many thanks to you all. Weren’t our speakers incredible, too? I have massive respect for all of them. I would like to share with you the two recurring questions I was asked at the event. For many months, all of us at UK Column have been warning that September 2024 will be when we see a cascade of new ideas, change, regulation, and legislation. We weren’t joking. But if you think September has been fast-paced and extraordinary, it’s just a prelude of what is to come. At last, I was able to return to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency’s (MHRA) live-streamed Board Meeting. I had been keeping my eye out for tickets daily. My patience was rewarded.

September has finally arrived, as have the rain and overcast skies. Where was summer? Did it come and go without my noticing? Albeit a few isolated sunny days, it’s been mostly miserable. Summer downpours and floods are always the worst. And it’s official: the UK has endured the coolest summer for almost a decade. So much for ‘global warming’.The so-called experts can’t have it both ways, right?
