KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas’ governor has signed a bill that establishes a task force to tackle the ongoing water challenges in the state. “Thanks to this legislation, there will now be a bipartisan strategic plan with a dedicated funding source to tackle Kansas’ most pressing water challenges,” Gov. Kelly said. She said the task force will create a long-term investment program for water with a dedicated revenue source—similar to the state’s rolling 10-year transportation programs.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The United States Supreme Court will use a case from Kansas City to decide the legality of some retroactive punishments. The nation’s highest court announced on Monday that it will hear the appeal of Holsey Ellingburg, Jr.Ellingburg was sentenced to 27 years in federal prison and ordered to pay $7,500 restitution for his role in a December 1995 bank robbery in Georgia.
