It is set to transition to an NBC affiliation on February 29. Since it began operations, WRAL-TV has been the flagship station for Capitol Broadcasting Company. It covers the Triangle area, which includes Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Fayetteville. The station shares studio and office space with another station on Western Boulevard near I-440 in Raleigh, while its transmitter is situated in Auburn, North Carolina.
