The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Dan Cohen, has cut the ground on the final phase of a long-awaited housing development. The highly anticipated Leeds Jewish Housing Association (LJHA) development will deliver 28 affordable homes on the Queenshill estate in the north of the city. The properties will be made up of 14 two-bed and 12 three-bed homes as well as two flats - one two-bed and one one-bed - and form the second and final phase of an LJHA scheme partly funded by Homes England.

A former Leeds Conservatoire student has bagged a spot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival after making it to the final of a prestigious emerging talent contest. Mali Hâf, originally from Cardiff, was one of just eight artists chosen from thousands of entries to perform in the live final at Pilton Working Men’s Club – just down the road from Worthy Farm.

Established in 2006 by Jane Tomlinson, who raised £1.8 million for charity while battling terminal cancer, the Leeds 10K continues to support charities to this day. The 10K race will take place on Sunday, June 15, with thousands of runners participating, both individually and in teams. Participants will set off from the University of Leeds’ Parkinson Building and make their way around the city.

A West Yorkshire student officer has been charged after being found guilty of three counts of sexual touching. PC Charlie Valente, aged 24, who is stationed at Learning and Organisational Development, was convicted following a trial at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, May 1. The charges involve offences committed against two female victims between November 4 and 5, 2022, in Leeds.
