The Opposition Leader has decided there’s no room for a two-term Coalition strategy in the 2025 election and declares: “Australians can’t afford three more years of the Albanese government.”In his budget reply on Thursday, Dutton went a step further, saying this election “matters more than any others in recent history”.

Group 1 redemption is on the cards for Gentleman Roy and a clash with fellow Lindsay Park sparring partner Mr Brightside in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on August 31. Gentleman Roy joined Mr Brightside on the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) honour roll on Saturday at Caulfield, Lindsay Park’s third straight success in the race. Mr Brightside won the PB Lawrence in 2022 and 2023.

The Paris Olympic Games are heading to a close, and they’ve certainly been one to celebrate for Australia. The team has broken the record for the most gold medals at an Olympics for an Australian team and will be ready to party in style. Those festivities will kick off with the closing ceremony which marks the official end of the Games, and the passing of the baton to Los Angeles which will host the next summer Olympics in four years.

A stranger has pushed a random woman off the platform onto the train tracks at a busy Melbourne station at the start of peak hour. The assailant fled the scene while the woman was taken to hospital by ambulance in a stable condition. Members of the public and train network staff helped her off the track, a witness says. The incident happened at the busy Richmond Station near the Melbourne CBD, just before 4pm on Wednesday.
