Bill Self has hauled in three of the transfer portal's best wing players, addressing a deficiency that held the Jayhawks back in the 2023-24 season. As of this writing, Johnny Furphy is still a Kansas player, but many consider the Aussie to be out the door and into the NBA draft. We will examine the future of the Kansas Jayhawks with the thought that Furphy is gone. So with so many new faces, what would the ideal Kansas lineup look like? Let's start with the obvious.
Rylan Griffen Commits to Kansas

The good news just keeps coming for Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks. After securing commitments from AJ Storr and Zeke Mayo, Kansas landed perhaps the biggest fish left in the transfer portal in Alabama sophomore guard Rylan Griffen. In about 26 minutes of playing time per game last season for the Crimson Tide, Griffen averaged 11.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.

The Kansas Jayhawks have been very active in the transfer portal so far this spring with the possibility of adding more, if rumors are to be believed. But the recent signing of guard AJ Storr, formerly of Wisconsin, is a huge get for the Jayhawks. AJ Storr was a second-team All-Big Ten selection this past season at Wisconsin and his range of skills is something that the Jayhawks missed badly in 2023-24. He has nice size at 6-foot-7 and was one of the most sought-after shooters in the portal.

Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks have already been busy in the transfer portal, securing the services of ex-Florida guard Riley Kugel before the official end of the college basketball season. From afar, this seems like a somewhat out of left field choice for the Jayhawks as Kugel, an Orlando, Florida native, saw his playing time reduced throughout SEC conference play, being relegated as a substitute after starting the season in the starting five for the Gators.

Well, I have been saving this theme all season long, waiting for Parker Braun to have a break-out game. That never happened, so here we are, in the final game of a disappointing season where Parker got novelty minutes and made the most of them. When Parker Braun signed at Kansas to play out his sixth year of eligibility as a Jayhawk, there were immediate hopes that he'd be the heir apparent to his successful NBA and NCAA champion brother Christian. Alas, that wasn't fair to either brother.

The definition of letdown is a disappointment or a feeling of disappointment and I can't think of a more apt feeling for the entire Kansas fanbase. How about making a three pointer once in a while? When Patrick Cassidy has a third of your three pointers, you're doing something wrong. Terribly wrong.
