Clouds have overspread the area this morning, keeping temperatures milder in the upper 40s and 50s across Western Wisconsin. This is quite the change from previous mornings, where lows mostly cooled to the 30s. A cut-off upper low is parked over the region and will keep us mainly cloudy today as scattered showers become possible. Low-level dry air may prevent most of the activity from reaching us at the surface, but a small chance still exists.

It was a very active afternoon yesterday with severe weather crossing through Western Wisconsin. Storms produced very large hail in Eau Claire, while tornadoes were reported in both St. Croix and Clark counties. The NWS will assess the damage and have more information over the next couple of days. The severe weather was a result of a strong low pressure system spinning to our west and pushing a front through the area. The warm and humid air mass is now cooling and drying out.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - We’ve been enjoying a stretch of summer-like weather in Western Wisconsin as needed rain remains absent, but that will soon be changing as our next storm system moves in tomorrow. Low-level moisture, instability, and wind shear will all be increasing during the day as a warm front lifts into the region, setting the stage for an episode of severe weather during the afternoon and evening.

Scattered clouds have developed in the area this morning as temperatures are starting off mild, mostly in the 60s across Western Wisconsin. This is coming with a bit of mugginess as dew points are steady in the upper 50s and low 60s. The humid conditions will stick around today as dew points remain at their current levels, with intervals of clouds and sunshine on tap.

Our stretch of warm and dry weather continues this afternoon, but with a subtle change as dew points rise through the 50s. This will help to allow for at least scattered clouds to develop with peak heating, otherwise highs will again reach the mid-80s. When it comes to fire danger, little has changed as we range from high to extreme fire danger in the area. This means wildfires can still easily start and spready very quickly; therefore, burning is strongly discouraged.
