Polymer nanodiscs are challenging to make. Most self-assembly processes are thermodynamically driven and typically yield shapes of minimised energy, like spheres or vesicles. The substantial progress in polymerisation induced self-assembly (PISA) has facilitated the production of polymer rods, worms, and cylinders,1, 2 yet the realisation of 2D materials like discs and platelets remains challenging and represents a significant knowledge gap to reliably produce them in polymer nanoscience.
