Barnstable is now, alongside all other listed counties, described as obstructing federal immigration enforcement. Sheriff Buckley explained then that the department provides federal authorities pertinent information regarding incarcerated immigrants; the same information would be provided to other federal agencies, per federal law.

The Falmouth Economic Development & Industrial Corporation (EDIC) is cracking down on people who park in its Falmouth Station parking lot on Depot Avenue, but do not use the bus service. This includes people hopping on a Steamship Authority shuttle to the Woods Hole terminal. Per a note placed on several cars violating the lot’s allowed uses on Tuesday, May 27, the EDIC is threatening to tow vehicles that repeatedly use the lot improperly.

Woods Hole residents once again aired their grievances regarding the Steamship Authority’s 5:30 AM freight trips between the Woods Hole terminal and Martha’s Vineyard. A total of 76 people attended the Zoom hearing Wednesday afternoon, May 28. They were among the 248 residents who signed a petition demanding the hearing so they could again make their case to cease the early morning freight ferry, which has been running since 2011, among other demands.

“Relocating the beach office. That’s my three-year vision,” Town Manager Michael Renshaw said, responding to a question about his priorities regarding the beach department. During the beach committee’s meeting on May 21, Mr. Renshaw sat with the committee to discuss the future of the beach department, its departmental offices in the bathhouse on Surf Drive and the possibility the department could move into an unused building in Goodwill Park.

Two ospreys, named Rachel and Carson, are streaming live for their fourth year. The birds and their hatchlings are being filmed from their nest at Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in East Falmouth. The video feed runs around-the-clock and ”provides wildlife enthusiasts an up-close and personal look at these amazing osprey,” per the stream’s website.
