Michael Dobran, testing and gifted coordinator at Massillon City Schools, was hired to be the next superintendent of the Windham Exempted Village School District. He replaces Aireane Curtis, who is leaving Windham to take a job as superintendent of Crestwood Schools. Michael Dobran will take over as superintendent effective Aug. 1.

Popeyes in Streetsboro hosted a grand opening at its new location at 9346 State Route 14 Monday. The long-awaited chicken restaurant broke ground about a year ago. Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen has opened its Streetsboro location at 9346 State Route 14. The Streetsboro Area Chamber of Commerce conducted a ribbon cutting Monday at the eatery. Ground was broken about a year ago for the restaurant. It is the chain's first restaurant in Portage County.

Haven of Portage County will host its Summer Soiree Fundraiser on June 29 at Byers DiPaola Castle in Ravenna. The event brings together community members, supporters and philanthropists to help the less fortunate. The Summer Soiree Fundraiser will feature live entertainment and an auction. The band 330Boomers will perform, and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served by It’s About Thyme Catering Services. Those on hand can bid on exclusive experiences and items in silent auctions.

The logo for Ravenna's 225th anniversary celebration has been chosen, and a series of events to celebrate the anniversary are being finalized. Chelsea Gregor, clerk of Ravenna City Council and president of the Main Street Ravenna board of directors, won the logo design contest for the city's 225th celebration. Candi Lukat, treasurer of the Ravenna school district, seen here going over the five-year fiscal projections of the district in this file photo, has resigned. Candi Lukat, treasurer for the Ravenna City School District since October 2021, is resigning. The district issued a statement that Lukat has "decided to pursue other opportunities" after 2 1/2 years with the district. Her resignation is effective March 31.
