Xandria Mancuso, pictured in Summer 2024 during a tea party, died May 7, 2025. The 9-year-old was a fourth grader at West Main Elementary School in Ravenna. The funeral for a 9-year-old Ravenna girl who died May 7 after what her family describes as an "accident" will be May 23 in Akron. Newcomer Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements, on Wednesday posted Xandria Mancuso's obituary on its website. The 9-year-old was a fourth grader at West Main Elementary School in Ravenna.

Voters considered school levy requests May 6 in several communities, including Ravenna, Streetsboro and Mogadore. The Ravenna, Streetsboro and Mogadore school districts have new money issues on the primary ballot. Aurora City Schools is seeking the renewal of a levy, along with Springfield Local Schools in Summit County, which has some voters in Portage County. The Ravenna school district was seeking passage of Issue 12 − a 5.47-mill, 5-year property tax that would generate $2.75 million annually.

A woman who previously pleaded guilty to charges in connection with the sexual assault of a teen that sent her husband to prison for decades was sentenced to five years in prison. Amanda J.
