A bill cosponsored by Rep. Matt Barton, R-Calhoun, that would have shielded from legal liability any entities other than the companies that made PFAS and PFOS chemicals, failed to get a vote in the State House by last week's Thursday deadline. HB 211 remains alive in the House Judiciary Committee for consideration next year, although lawsuits are pending against textile companies that used the toxic forever chemicals and municipalities that disposed of the contaminated wastewater.
