Andrew Griggs, 62, was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 34-year-old Debbie Griggs, who was three months pregnant with their son. Griggs was convicted of her death in 2019, 20 years after Debbie went missing from their home in Kent. He was brought to justice after a cold case investigation by Kent Police but her body was only found three years later when he revealed where he had hidden her body to their son.

A planning request, approved by Dorset Council, will allow for the removal of the machines with the gaps to be infilled with matching stone. The application also allows for bank signs to be removed from the building with minor repairs made. Lloyds has occupied the building, on the corner of Cornhill (South Street) with High West Street, since 1914, taking it over from the former Wilts & Dorset and Williams & Co banks.

THIS coming week marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the German concentration camp Bergen-Belsen. Ken Knight was one of the first men through the gates. He spoke movingly about the experience to the Dorset Echo in 2003 when he was living in Sutton Poyntz, near Weymouth. Here we re-publish the interview with Ken, who passed away in 2007. On April 17, 1945, Ken Knight walked through the gates of hell.

AN ‘in principle’ application has been submitted for a 145-home development at Crossways. The site, off the West Link Road, includes proposals for access, open spaces, landscaping and a green space. It adjoins a plot where almost 50 homes are currently under construction with more than half the new site to be given over to an area of permanent green space which will include a circular walking route and landscaping.
