NHL There's certainly been no shortage of painful reminders of how miserable this Pittsburgh Penguins season has been for anyone who's made a habit of watching them play. But last weekend's pair of truly soul-sucking losses in Western Canada were a bit much for even them apparently, because they provided the final clarity they needed about what they had to do at this year's trade deadline.

NHL One could hardly blame you for thinking today was the NHL trade deadline given all the trade activity. With a relatively light schedule of games on the docket tonight, the general managers clearly decided to make use of their free time by getting a good chunk of their heavy lifting done now rather than waiting until the last minute. That's bad news for the league's broadcast partners, who will have to fill time for an ungodly number of hours on Friday's telecasts.

NHL It's that special time of year again. The 2024 NHL trade deadline is just a couple of days away, and despite the fact that we've already had a couple of the biggest names in Elias Lindholm, Sean Monahan, and Chris Tanev taken off of the board, there will hopefully be some appetizing trades for us to sink our teeth into between now and Friday afternoon.

NHL Gabriel Vilardi has been one of my favourite players to watch this season. In a year where everyone is putting up video game numbers that will have your head spinning, his own counting stats won't necessarily blow anyone away at first glance. He's now up to 15 goals and 13 assists on the year, the former of which is essentially becoming a tidy month's work for someone like Auston Matthews.
