Jordan Klopper, from Fourways, has been selected, after the SA Sprint Championships, to represent SA at the World Sprint Championships. What is even more amazing, is the fact that he has been selected five times, which is quite an achievement. “I honestly wasn’t expecting to be selected this year,” said Klopper. “I’ve just moved into a new age group (U23), and with the transition to university life at the University of Cape Town, there were a lot of changes and challenges to navigate.

Frustration is mounting among residents in Fourways as taxi drivers continue to disregard traffic rules, using pedestrian and cyclist walkways to bypass bumper to bumper traffic. Despite efforts last year by Hans Jooste, the general manager of Future City Fourways (FCF), a non-profit company, to install concrete bollards on the offramp to Sunrise Boulevard from Winnie Mandela Drive to prevent taxis from parking on sidewalks, the problem persists at other intersections.

Johannesburg Water’s (JW) response to Lonehill resident Thea Swann, who feels her basic right for access to water has been violated, is a damning indictment of the city’s priorities. After being left high and dry, literally, since February, and slapped with a R77 000 bill due to a suspected underground leak, which she reported multiple times to the water utility, Swann was further betrayed by an alleged scammer demanding a R9 500 bribe.

Rising hockey star Phawu Sinxoto, a Grade 7 learner at Cedarwood College, has been selected to represent the U13 Eastern Gauteng provincial hockey team at the upcoming Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT), hosted by South African Schools Hockey (SASHOC) from June 28 to July 2. This exciting achievement comes after years of dedication and hard work on the field. Phawu, who first picked up a hockey stick in Grade 5, has been dreaming of this moment since her journey began.
