A $20.4 million federal grant will go toward construction of a bridge over railroad tracks that cross West Cortaro Farms Road near Interstate 10 in Marana. The grant from the Federal Railroad Administration will contribute to the cost of design and environmental expenses for the eventual bridge over the Union Pacific rail line that will include a new traffic interchange with Interstate 10, a news release on Friday said.

A development on the site of the former No-Tel Motel opened Thursday with 63 units of affordable housing. “Each unit here represents a commitment to change lives for the better for the people who live here,” Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, told a crowd gathered Thursday afternoon in the courtyard of Milagro on Oracle, just north of West Grant Road on the city's north side. The project is the first of nine housing developments planned with the city’s non-profit, El Pueblo Housing Development.

Pima County Administrator Jan Lesher got a raise as part of a new two-year contract approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors. The contract, which outlines her salary, benefits and contract terms, will increase Lesher’s annual salary by approximately 27%, from $260,000 to $330,000. The vote occurred shortly after the swear in ceremony for the board. Democrat Rex Scott will serve as board chairman. Terms of the contract apply from Jan. 8, through Jan.
