    A South Dakota Army National Guard member is facing a possible second DUI conviction, after he was caught with alcohol in his system on a law enforcement driving course. Court records obtained by the Argus Leader show Tucker Watson-Veal, 28, of Bison, was arrested April 18 following a DUI investigation at the Emergency Vehicles Operations Course (EVOC) near Pierre Regional Airport.

    Some inmates were injured in an outbreak of fights at Sioux Falls' historic prison over the weekend. South Dakota Department of Corrections spokesperson Michael Winder told the Argus Leader in an email that a "couple fights" took place in the housing units of the South Dakota State Penitentiary's eastern halls. The fights occurred May 4.

    A South Dakota legislator is resigning after questions surfaced regarding his residency in the state. State Rep. Christopher Reder, R-Warner, announced over social media May 1 he no is longer serving in the state legislature, a decision he said he made on the same afternoon of his post. Reder was elected to represent District 1 along with State Rep. Logan Manhart during the 2024 general election.
