On May 10, Wayne County residents, age 16 - 18, with asthma can receive a free mobile air quality monitor and participate in a year-long initiative to manage their respiratory health. The Mobile Air Quality Monitoring Program, led by Wayne County Health, Human & Veterans Services (HHVS) and JustAir, provides participants with real-time air quality insights to help them understand how air quality might be impacting their health. Association of Black Judges of Michigan hold Worship Service in Romulus

ROMULUS –Each year, members of the Association of Black Judges of Michigan (ABJM) come together for a Worship Service. This year the service was held at Pentecost Missionary Baptist Church in Romulus on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Judges from across the State spent their afternoon with people from the City of Romulus and other surrounding communities. Judge Lisa Martin from the 34th District Court serves as President of the ABJM.

The wait is over. After several tries to reactivate the Highland Park NAACP Brancn, it has been done. On May 18th, 2024 it became official. Several die hard community members worked tirelessly over the past seven months to get enough members to fulfill the requirements to be reactivated. They held membership drives at local churches, the Recreation Center, at Ministerial Alliance meetings, at Block Club meetings, and several businesses throughout the city of Highland Park.
Ecorse Raider, Chris Woods selected to play in MHSBCA All Star Game

Chris Woods has been selected to play in the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association (MHSBCA) All Star Game on June 18th at Comerica Park. He has been training for this moment his entire life. This is the East vs. West All Star Game of the top players in the state of Michigan. This honor has been bestowed upon only a select few and he has made the cut. Chris is a Senior at Ecorse High School and he played on the Varsity Ecorse Raiders baseball team for four years.

The NAACP Michigan State Conference has been actively working to reactivate the NAACP Highland Park Branch. The Organizing Committee has been meeting at different locations and virtually throughout Highland Park since November 2023 to reach community members throughout Highland Park. The reactivation of the NAACP Highland Park Branch is vital to the community. The NAACP is the oldest civil rights organization in the world.

INKSTER - Think about it, Talk about it, Plan it and then Do it. The IT that was the topic of discussion on Monday, March 25, was Summer Enhancement Activities for the youth in Inkster. A cross function of community groups came together at Operation Refuge Headquarters to listen and learn from each other. Each organization that was in attendance has a history of hosting programs and activities for the youth living in Inkster.
