Everybody in baseball has a beginning. A year ago, Daniel Vogelbach broke spring training camp as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays. Playing for his fifth MLB club in nine seasons, Vogelbach was a "hired gun." A left-handed bat as a designated hitter and possibly sprinkled in a few games at first base, this is how Vogelbach’s role was seen. By mid-June, after seeing his playing time diminished to 31 games, Vogelbach was designated for assignment by Toronto.

Will Taylor has a bright future in baseball. Right now, in my humble opinion, Konnor Griffin is the best-known Marauder this season, and for very good reasons. One day, Renny Duarte could be elevated to the position of pitching coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Spending a few minutes with Duarte prior to a Marauders’ home game is a treat. Confidence oozes from every sentence the Venezuelan speaks about the nuances of pitching. The experience he’s picked up around the globe on baseball makes him uniquely qualified to teach.
