    A transient accused of stalking a woman in Fredericton and of fleecing a barbershop for a free haircut asked a court Thursday to order a psychiatric assessment. Logan Bradley Fletcher, 23, of no fixed address, appeared in Fredericton provincial court in person and in custody Thursday, scheduled to go through a bail hearing. However, he instead asked Judge Mary Jane Richards to order a 30-day psychiatric assessment to determine if he’s fit to stand trial.

    A Fredericton woman will return to court later this month to enter a plea to a charge alleging she dipped into the till at a rural store repeatedly over the course of several months last year.     A Fredericton man found passed out at the wheel of a running car told police he was trying to keep warm while sleeping off a night one when he was busted for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Trever Stephen Allen, 26, of Fieldstone Court, appeared in Fredericton provincial court Tuesday to answer to a charge related to impaired driving. He pleaded guilty to having an elevated blood-alcohol level within two hours of having care and control of a motor vehicle. This post is for paid subscribers

    A former public-safety officer who lost his job after leaving his work firearm loaded and unsecured around his kids is appealing his conviction for careless storage of the weapon. Michael (Mike) Phillipe Breau, 35, of Wilsey Road in Rusagonis, was convicted last year of storing a handgun improperly and was sentenced in November to two years of probation. The case arose after the RCMP investigated him in 2022 after receiving a criminal complaint from New Maryland resident Michelle Russell.
