The Assembly of First Nations National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak’s first year as leader has been one of unity, she said in an interview with CTV News. “Unifying, I think we’ve come together as First Nations. I see the AFN having unprecedented attendance at our assemblies.” However, she has had to deal with many issues facing First Nations people across the country. It’s sometimes a difficult feat to get the 634 First Nations Chiefs to agree on pressing issues.

The young defenceman for the Nipissing Warriors is playing in Ontario's largest Indigenous hockey tournament called Little NHL or Native Hockey League. Usually suitcases being brought on vacation are filled with clothes, toiletries and personal items, not brimming with medical supplies. But volunteers with the non-profit Not Just Tourists are bringing a humanitarian edge to recreational travel by bringing medical supplies in their luggage to donate to those in need. Avi D’Sousa, founder of the Toronto chapter of Not Just Tourists, showed CTV National News buckets of supplies, ready to be packed away into suitcases.
