And it’s also special because it’s on the air station at Cherry Point, which is where it all began a lot of years ago. Hubie’s love for flying started at a young age. A cold front will drop into eastern Carolina later Friday afternoon or early evening. This system could produce gusty damaging winds, hail, a downpour, and an isolated tornado risk. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our southern half of the viewing area in a level 2 or 5, or slight risk for strong to severe thunderstorms. The northern half is at a marginal risk. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in place until 9 pm for all of our areas, except for Bertie County.
