After more than 40 years, Trudy's Tex-Mex has announced it is closing its only remaining brick-and-mortar restaurant on Burnet Road. The restaurant announced on its social media and website that it was "time for us to say goodbye to our North Star location" but it did not specify an exact date when it would be closed. What is Trudy's know for? Trudy's was famous for its Mexican martinis. The restaurant opened in 1977 and in 2020, Trudy's was purchased by a venture capital firm out of bankruptcy.

The Austin Police Department says it is investigating a bomb threat at an H-E-B. The incident is happening at the H-E-B located at 7301 North FM 620 Road. Police say when they arrived at the scene they located one unoccupied suspicious vehicle within the parking lot. Officers have put a perimeter around the vehicle. The APD Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit is currently on scene investigating.

The Austin Police Department has an update on the investigation after a body was found in an East Austin parking lot. Police said on Jan. 9, around 1:44 a.m., officers responded to a check welfare urgent call at 5707 Manor Road. The caller said they saw a body in the parking lot lying in a pool of blood. Police did not specify what kind of injury it was, but said there were signs of trauma around the victim's neck. The body was later identified as 35-year-old Kelly Meazell.

A Austin sandwich shop made headlines after it posted a viral video of a dog holding a sub sandwich. Co-owners Albert and Agon Demi, who also happen to be brothers, opened Cooper's Sandwiches in Southwest Austin in 2019. Albert says he and his wife adopted Cooper almost nine years ago and at the time Cooper was very anxious and wasn't really eating. One day they went and got some subs and left them on a table and when they stepped away, Cooper grabbed one off the table and ate it.
