BURTON LADY PANTHERS SWEEP SERIES OVER BIG SANDY

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team won the Bi-District Championship last (Friday) night with a double header sweep over Big Sandy Lady Wildcats. Burton won the first game 16-1 after jumping on Big Sandy early and often. Reagan Roemer got it started on a positive note with a solo homer over the left field fence to give the Lady Panthers a 1-0 lead. The next batter, Natalie Hodde drew a walk. Amaya Williams followed with a two run homer of her own to make it 3-0 Burton.
CUBETTES WIN GAME ONE 7-6 OVER KINGWOOD PARK

The rain and the lightning caused a delay in last (Thursday) night's Bi-District opener, but when play resumed and all was said and done, the Brenham Cubette Softball Team defeated Kingwood Park 7-6 in Game One of their Bi-District Series. The Cubettes got on the board with a run in the bottom of the first inning. McKenzie Tiemann singled, and then stole second. She then came around to score when Kinley Antkowiak reached on an error, and give Brenham a 1-0 lead.
CUBETTE SENIORS EARN THSCA ACADEMIC ALL-STATE HONORS

The Texas High School Coaches Association has released the list of students who made their Academic All-State Softball Team. To qualify, the player must be a senior, in good standing with their team, of good moral character, and keep their grades above a 92 average. Making the Academic All-State Second Team for the Brenham Cubettes, were Avery Maurer, Heidi Busker, Sarah Mabie, Kinley Antkowiak, and Liliana Gonzales.
WASHINGTON COUNTY JUNIORS LOOKING FOR TEAMS FOR UPCOMING TOURNAMENTS

The Washington County Juniors, a non-profit volleyball club in Brenham, are looking for a team to compete in their upcoming 4x4 tournaments. They will have three divisions: a 6th-7th grade division on Monday, May 12, an 8th-9th grade division on Tuesday, May 13, and a 10th-12th grade division and Adults on Thursday, May 15. Each team consists of four players. The cost to enter is $80 per team. For spectators, admission to the matches are $5 for adults, and free for kids 12 and under.

Brenham Pregnancy Center, in partnership with Brenham Moms, recently hosted its Spring 2025 Community Baby Shower to celebrate and support local mothers. The event was held at the Brenham Presbyterian Church. The Baby Shower brought together new and expecting moms from the community to receive baby essentials, encouragement, and support.
BRENHAM ANGLERS GOING TO REGIONAL TOURNAMENT

The Brenham Anglers are sending four teams to the Texas High School Bass Association's Regional Tournament. The tournament is going to be held this Saturday, April 26, on Lake LBJ. The team of Bryce Siemsglusz and Kaiden Birkelbach along with their captain Raylon Zwernemann finished 14th out of 182 teams. They are coming off winning the Sam Rayburn Tournament back on March 29. The team also landed the biggest bass as well.

Blinn won the opener of a three-game Region XIV South series with the Pioneers to improve to 36-10 overall and push its first-place record in the South to 24-5.
CUBS CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT WITH WIN OVER RUDDER

The Brenham Cub Baseball Team is going back to the playoffs. The Cubs clinched a playoff berth last (Tuesday) night with an 11-5 victory over the Rudder Rangers in Bryan. Brenham got on the board with three runs in the top of the second inning. Landry Mendoza led it off with a walk. Cannon Credeur came up next and slugged an RBI double that brought Mendoza home with the first run of the ballgame. Grady Gee hit a double of his own that scored Credeur.
CUBS PROMOTE ASCHENBECK TO HIGH-A SOUTH BEND

Well that didn't take long. The Chicago Cubs have promoted LHP Evan Aschenbeck to High Class-A affiliate, the South Bend Cubs. Aschenbeck, who is a former Brenham Cub, Blinn Buccaneer, and Texas A&M Aggie, had pitched three games so far this season for the low-Class A affiliate, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. In those three games, he made two starts and one relief appearance going 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA.
