The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team won the Bi-District Championship last (Friday) night with a double header sweep over Big Sandy Lady Wildcats. Burton won the first game 16-1 after jumping on Big Sandy early and often. Reagan Roemer got it started on a positive note with a solo homer over the left field fence to give the Lady Panthers a 1-0 lead. The next batter, Natalie Hodde drew a walk. Amaya Williams followed with a two run homer of her own to make it 3-0 Burton.

The rain and the lightning caused a delay in last (Thursday) night's Bi-District opener, but when play resumed and all was said and done, the Brenham Cubette Softball Team defeated Kingwood Park 7-6 in Game One of their Bi-District Series. The Cubettes got on the board with a run in the bottom of the first inning. McKenzie Tiemann singled, and then stole second. She then came around to score when Kinley Antkowiak reached on an error, and give Brenham a 1-0 lead.

The Texas High School Coaches Association has released the list of students who made their Academic All-State Softball Team. To qualify, the player must be a senior, in good standing with their team, of good moral character, and keep their grades above a 92 average. Making the Academic All-State Second Team for the Brenham Cubettes, were Avery Maurer, Heidi Busker, Sarah Mabie, Kinley Antkowiak, and Liliana Gonzales.

The Washington County Juniors, a non-profit volleyball club in Brenham, are looking for a team to compete in their upcoming 4x4 tournaments. They will have three divisions: a 6th-7th grade division on Monday, May 12, an 8th-9th grade division on Tuesday, May 13, and a 10th-12th grade division and Adults on Thursday, May 15. Each team consists of four players. The cost to enter is $80 per team. For spectators, admission to the matches are $5 for adults, and free for kids 12 and under.
