It said, “I’m an Emotional Support Doug.”I have a part-time job at Mast General Store in Asheville, North Carolina. It is a popular local shop with clothes and supplies and barrels of candy. The locals and the tourists love coming to our store. It is an iconic fixture in the center of downtown Asheville.

A little over two weeks ago, Hurricane Helene dumped vast amounts of water into the mountains of Western North Carolina, causing flooding that was beyond anyone’s expectations or preparations. People died. Homes were destroyed.
