ASHLAND – The present was already plenty bright for the Ashland High School wrestling program, but it’s looking like the future might just be aligning beautifully as well. The Arrows sent four matmen to the Division I state tournament for just the second time in their history in early March. A few weeks later, Ashland landed six youth wrestlers in the Ohio Athletic Committee Grade School Wrestling State Championships in Youngstown. The event is known as the biggest youth tournament in the state.

ASHLAND – There is a patch of turf on a baseball field off Katherine Avenue that is unlike any other patch on any other baseball field in the country. It’s the third-base coach’s box at Donges Field, and it’s where John Schaly steps into his office. Lanes Bowling Center.

ASHLAND – On the biggest stages in sports, sometimes the spotlight shines on more than just the main attractions. Hosting Hillsdale College for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament title Saturday, Ashland University watched bench players Sarah McKee and Ashley Mullet land the biggest punches. The game featured 11 lead changes and saw the Chargers ahead 55-53 nearly halfway through the fourth quarter, but it was McKee and Mullet stoically steering the Eagles to a 69-57 victory.
