COLUMBUS — A nearly year-long investigation by the Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU) into the use of card skimmers to steal at least $600,000 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits across Ohio has resulted in indictments for three people. Earlier this month, a Franklin County Common Pleas Court grand jury returned indictments against Columbus residents Ionut Bizga, 33, Doina Bacelan, 32, and Juan Hernandez, 26.

The May 24 Ashland Source article about the Village of Savannah applying for a $750,000 federal grant to fund various community projects illustrates exactly what’s wrong in America today (and has been for quite some time). The projects reportedly include a permanent restroom and an electronic sign at Savannah Academy Park. New basketball and pickleball courts too. There’s nothing inherently wrong with those proposals.
