THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Scarlett Hamilton used to leave her garage door of her Lacey home open at night. Not after the arrest of two neighbors Monday. ”Now it's just like, I want cameras up everywhere,” said Hamilton, “You just don't know.” Thurston County investigators said two men taken into custody were in possession of illegal weapons, potentially stolen from the U.S. Army. Investigators say they are military veterans.

LACEY, Wash. — The source of a fire that trapped a Lacey family in a second-floor apartment remains a mystery. But Sarah Salem said she’s certain of one thing: her neighbors are heroes. “I really just can’t thank them enough because they saved my family, and my home. And that’s really important because I was afraid I wasn’t going to have a home to come to,” said Salem.

GRAYS HARBOR, Wash. — The state plans on moving eight men, convicted of crimes as juveniles, into a former solitary confinement unit at a state prison next month. The men, all over the age of 18, will be coming from Green Hill School, the state’s only maximum security juvenile rehabilitation center. Green Hill has been housing more offenders than what’s considered safe for more than a year, according to the Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).

LACEY, Wash. — Students typically told they can’t, found out they absolutely can at North Thurston Public School’s annual “Day of Champions” event Wednesday. More than 400 students in special education from across the district participated in physical events, from an obstacle course to soccer goal-kicking, even beach ball turf bowling. Bo Brennan, a third grader from Lydia Hawk Elementary, has been looking forward to the day all year. “I was just thinking of having fun,” said Brennan.
