Interior Health says staff are needed for emergency and patients admitted to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. Outpatients will have to go to the Life Labs outlet in Waneta Plaza. IH says it will help outpatients make the transition. KBRH will continue to provide pre-surgical outpatient services and lab tests for those being treated for acute conditions like cancer and renal care.

    Creston Valley crews are getting considerable wildfire fighting experience. A wild Wednesday started at about 11:30 a.m.It involved a crew of 22 utilizing 11 fire trucks. They knocked down a 5-thousand square metre blaze in the Lakeview Arrow Creek area and spent several hours putting out hot spots. At about 3:30 in the afternoon, the Creston Fire Department got reports of smoke billowing out of the Corn Creek Valley.

According to the latest budget documents released late Thursday, the lower chamber is pitching a 2% bump for most state workers. The Senate’s position was a 4% raise.
