Hydrogen sulphide (H S) is required for optimal establishment of soybean (Glycine max)-Sinorhizobium fredii symbiotic interaction, yet its role in regulating the nitrogen fixation-senescence transition remains poorly understood. A S. fredii cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE) mutant deficient in H S synthesis showed early nodule senescence characterized by reduced nitrogenase activity, structural changes in nodule cells, and accelerated bacteroid death.

Drought poses a significant threat on the ecosystem stability of extensive areas of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) plantations in northwestern China. However, limited understanding of the physiological responses of black locust to drought has impeded the development of proactive measures to alleviate potential adverse effects of drought.
