    A barbecue restaurant on the east side of town will soon close its doors. According to a social media post on Wednesday, Girls Gone BBQ at 2630 E Citizens Drive will permanently close on Saturday, June 14. “Our location, high rent, & lack of consistent community support have made it impossible to keep our doors open. This decision wasn’t easy, & it hurts deeply,” the post read.

    A self-guided tour of some great local gardens around the region is happening in and around Fayetteville next month. Washington County Master Gardeners will host their annual Garden Gate Tour of local gardens on Saturday, June 14 this year. This year’s tour will include six privately owned gardens in Fayetteville and near Elkins, along with the Elkins Community Center Master Gardener project, and the Beaver Watershed Alliance riparian and prairie restoration project at Bunch Park in Elkins.

    An annual Juneteenth celebration by local non-profit Music Moves will return for year five in 2025. The organization’s annual Freedom Festival is set for Saturday, June 21 at Luther George Park in Downtown Springdale. This year’s event will include performances by Grammy nominated soul artist and singer/songwriter, MAJOR, along with hip hop artist Mike Jones, funk band ConFunkShun, along with several local and regional acts to be announced at a later date.

    Opera in the Ozarks is set to kick off its 75th anniversary season in a brand new theater this summer. The organization, which has performed each summer for the better part of the last century and served as a training ground for some of the most talented singers in the country over the years, will perform 21 staged and costumed operate performances in their new theatre near Eureka Springs between June 27 through July 25.
