    FAYETTEVILLE — The City Council on Tuesday reconsidered a vote from last month to reject the plan for a student housing project on Dickson Street, but the outcome remained the same. Council members voted 5-3 Tuesday to reject the plan. Council members Teresa Turk, Monique Jones, Bob Stafford, Sarah Moore and Mike Wiederkehr voted against the plan. Sarah Bunch, D’Andre Jones and Scott Berna voted in support.

    FAYETTEVILLE — A social worker with a local nonprofit says she intends to run for a seat on the City Council representing the northeast part of town. Hayley Hall, 35, has launched a campaign to become the next holder of the Ward 3, Position 1 seat for the Nov. 3, 2026 election. Scott Berna has held the position since 2023. The filing period will begin in July 2026. Hall said she wanted to get an early start on fundraising by announcing her candidacy a year and a half in advance of Election Day.

    FAYETTEVILLE — The City Council may vote again on Tuesday about whether to grant an appeal for a student-oriented housing project on Dickson Street. In a memo to the City Council dated Friday (May 23), City Attorney Kit Williams said the council needs to reconsider its May 21 vote to deny an appeal from student-housing developer Trinitas Ventures because Council Member Teresa Turk should not have abstained.

    FAYETTEVILLE — Frequent mayoral and City Council candidate Adam Fire Cat has been granted a permit by the Planning Commission to operate a drive-through coffee shop on School Avenue. Planning commissioners voted 7-0 Tuesday to approve a conditional use permit for a drive-through only coffee shop at the former Bank of Fayetteville that sits in the same lot as Mountain Man Supplies and Pawn. Adam Fire Cat is the applicant. Fire Cat ran unsuccessful bids for mayor in 2008 and 2024.
