WINNERS Kyle Larson — He led 411 of 500 laps to score his second win of the season and second consecutive win at Bristol. He’s led 873 of the last 1,000 laps run at Bristol in Cup. He also won Saturday’s Xfinity race and finished second in Friday’s Truck race. Joe Gibbs Racing — The team’s cars finished second, third, fourth and eighth.

Both races may prove critical in Larson’s bid for a second Cup title and Hendrick Motorsports’ quest for its first Cup championship in four seasons — a drought for NASCAR’s most successful organization. A week ago, Larson’s mistake sent his No. 5 car into the wall less five laps into the race.

For son Jesse’s 20th birthday in January, Elizabeth Love used footage from when Jesse, then 5, went to the track to drive a quarter midget for the first time. “You can see the look on that little boy’s face, he was never afraid,” Elizabeth said of her son.
