The emotion was evident on Aiva Arquette’s face. The star shortstop sat at the podium, reflecting on his one and only season with the Oregon State baseball program. You could hear his voice crack and you could hear him sniffle as he tried to hold back tears. “I'm just proud of the brotherhood we assembled on this journey. What a season we had. What a run,” Arquette said late Tuesday evening in Omaha, Nebraska.

On Friday, Oregon State was able to quickly respond to its miscues and get the job done in the end. The story was not the same on Sunday. The Beavers got behind early due to a few errors and couldn’t overcome it, falling to Coastal Carolina 6-2 in the winners bracket game of the College World Series. Oregon State now faces Louisville at 11 a.m. Tuesday in an elimination game. Shortstop Aiva Arquette opened the game with a throwing error, which was too high for Jacob Krieg at first.
