Bryce Huff is officially now an ex-Eagle, after Philadelphia sent him to San Fracisco for a mid-round pick, which is yet to be revealed. It was a short and rocky saga for a player the Eagles had hoped would bolster their pass rush last year when they signed Huff to a three-year, $51 million free-agent contract. Huff played in just 12 games, had wrist surgery, and was inactive for Super Bowl LIX. He had just 2.5 sacks and 13 tackles while playing just 37 percent of the defensive snaps.

DeVonta Smith may show up when the Eagles open their second OTA this week. Or he may not. They are voluntary, but he isn’t sitting on his couch doing nothing. According to DJ Siddiqi in a story for Esports Insider, Smith has been working out with Alabama standout receiver Ryan Williams, who turned the college football world upside down last year as a 17-year-old freshman, with eight touchdown catches and 865 yards receiving.

He was considered a project when he was picked within the top 100 of last year’s draft as the 94th player taken overall. Now, Jalyx Hunt is projected to start on the edge for the Eagles. It’s an edge that got a little thinner with the reported trade of Bryce Huff to the San Francisco 49ers, a move reported on Friday but won’t become official until Sunday. Hunt isn’t going in with the mindset that he will start. “I'm expecting to do what's expected of me,” he said.

PHILADELPHIA – Howie Roseman found a taker for Bryce Huff. We should’ve known the Eagles general manager would, and we probably should have known that the taker would be defensive-minded Robert Saleh, who was the head coach of the New York Jets during Huff’s most productive season, and now the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. The deal won’t go through until Sunday when Huff’s contract becomes more palatable for Philadelphia. His departure also opens up jersey 0. Who gets it?

PHILADELPHIA – Kevin Patullo certainly carried himself like an NFL head coach when he met with reporters for the first time as the Eagles offensive coordinator. Left tackle Jordan Mailata called him “a great communicator,” and he certainly seemed that when he took his place behind a microphone on the stage inside the team’s training facility at the NovaCare Complex earlier in the week.
